What these terms do and do not cover
These terms govern your use of barkadahouse.com and the Barkada House member portal — the website, your account, applications, and payments made through the site. The commercial terms of membership itself — commitment length, automatic renewal, cancellation, freezes and refunds — live in the Membership, Renewal and Cancellation Policy, and that document controls on those subjects. These terms supersede the Membership Terms and House Rules dated June 15, 2026.
The short version
A plain-language summary for orientation only. The numbered sections below are the terms that apply.
  • Barkada House is operated by Atelier 411 Studios, LLC in Columbus, Ohio. Payments appear on your statement from Atelier 411 Studios.
  • Membership is by application. Nothing is charged to apply. After approval, a $250 founding deposit secures your founding membership and is credited toward your first-year dues.
  • The founding deposit is non-refundable except where applicable law provides cancellation or refund rights — the Membership Policy is the controlling document.
  • We never see your full card number. Payments are processed by Stripe.
  • You must be 18 or older and keep your account credentials to yourself.
  • The house is a shared room. Access depends on following the Code of Conduct and House Rules.
  • Ohio law governs, and disputes belong in Franklin County, Ohio.

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Atelier 411 Studios, LLC, an Ohio limited liability company doing business as Barkada House (“Barkada,” “the house,” “we,” “us”). They apply to barkadahouse.com, the member portal, and any application, deposit or payment you make through them. By using the site, creating an account, applying, or placing a deposit, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1.Who we are

Barkada House is a private membership house and cultural campus in Columbus’s Discovery District. It is a house of Atelier 411 Studios, LLC, which owns the Barkada brand and operating model and is the contracting party under these Terms.

Because Atelier 411 Studios is the operator of record, card statements, receipts and refunds for deposits and dues may appear under the name Atelier 411 Studios rather than Barkada House. It is the same organization.

2.Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, apply for membership, place a deposit, or use the member portal. The site is intended for users in the United States.

Membership is personal and by application. We may accept, decline, or place an applicant on a waiting list, subject to applicable law. Nothing on the site is an offer of membership, and no membership exists until we confirm it in writing.

3.Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for everything that happens under your account.

You agree to:

  • Provide true, current and complete information when you apply or register;
  • Keep your password and any access credential confidential;
  • Not share, sell, lend or transfer your account or member credentials to anyone else;
  • Notify us promptly at hello@barkadahouse.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

We may suspend or close an account that appears to be shared, compromised, or used in violation of these Terms. Credential sharing is grounds for termination under the Membership Policy.

4.Membership terms live in a separate document

Membership rates, initiation fees, the length of a membership commitment, annual billing, automatic renewal, notice periods, cancellation, freezes, hardship exceptions, suspension, termination for cause and reapplication are all governed by the Membership, Renewal and Cancellation Policy, together with the Code of Conduct and House Rules.

Where these Terms and the Membership Policy address the same subject, the Membership Policy controls. Nothing in these Terms waives a right that the law does not permit to be waived, including the cancellation rights described in that policy.

5.Founding deposits

Every founding membership requires a $250 founding deposit, the same at every tier, submitted after your membership is approved.

The founding deposit:

  • Reserves your founding membership upon approval and holds the founding rate for your tier;
  • Is credited toward your first-year annual dues and applied when your membership activates;
  • Is part of the published first-year total, not an additional charge, and does not replace the one-time initiation fee;
  • Is non-refundable, except where applicable law provides cancellation or refund rights; and
  • Does not create an ownership interest, tenancy or voting right in the house.

The remaining first-year balance is collected when your membership activates. The Membership Policy is the controlling document on deposits, initiation fees and refunds, and supersedes the Membership Deposit & Refund Policy dated June 15, 2026.

6.Payments and payment processing

Payments on the site are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full card number, expiry or security code. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last four digits of the card, the billing status, and the name, email and phone number you provide at checkout.

By completing a payment you authorize the charge shown at checkout. If a payment method is stored for later use, that will be disclosed to you at the time, and any recurring charge is governed by the Membership Policy and the terms disclosed in your membership offer.

You agree to keep a valid payment method on file while you hold a membership, and to promptly update expired or inaccurate payment information. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy.

If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us first at hello@barkadahouse.com — we would rather resolve it directly than through a card dispute, and we can usually do it faster.

7.The member portal

Members and applicants may receive access to a portal for applications, billing, event RSVPs, studio bookings, member messaging and profile information.

When using the portal you agree not to:

  • Access or attempt to access another person’s account, data or bookings;
  • Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the site or circumvent authentication or access controls;
  • Scrape, harvest or bulk-export member information, including names, contact details or the member directory;
  • Interfere with the operation of the site, including by automated request volume;
  • Upload anything unlawful, malicious, or infringing;
  • Use member information for solicitation, recruiting or marketing without consent.

The member directory and anything you learn about other members through the house are shared with you in confidence, for your own use as a member.

8.Bookings, studios and programming

Studio hours, room bookings, dinners, screenings and other programming are subject to availability, booking rules, capacity limits and the House Rules. Included studio hours and their draw rates are set out in your membership tier.

We may change, reschedule or cancel a program, a booking or a room’s availability when operations, maintenance, safety, a private event or circumstances outside our reasonable control require it. Where practicable we will offer a substitute or a credit.

Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may affect booking privileges as described in the House Rules.

9.Content you submit

You keep ownership of what you submit — application answers, profile information, photographs, messages and any material you create in the studios.

By submitting content to the site, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce and display it as needed to operate the house, review your application, run programming, and provide the portal. This license ends when we delete the content, except where we must retain it for legal or accounting purposes.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you submit, and for making sure it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or contain anything unlawful.

Photography in the house. We may photograph or film house spaces, dinners and programming for editorial and promotional use. Tell us or a member of staff if you prefer not to appear, and we will honour that. We will not use a member’s image in paid advertising without separate permission.

10.Our intellectual property

The Barkada and Barkada House names, wordmark, logo, visual identity, site design, copy, photography and programming formats are owned by Atelier 411 Studios, LLC and are protected by intellectual-property law.

You may not copy, reproduce, adapt or use them, or present yourself as affiliated with, endorsed by, or a representative of Barkada House, without our prior written permission. Nothing in these Terms grants you a license to our brand.

11.Third-party services

The site depends on third-party providers, including Stripe for payments, Supabase for our database and authentication, Resend for transactional email, Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, Google Analytics for measurement, and Fontshare for typography. Which providers we use, and what they receive, is described in the Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for third-party sites or services we link to, including social platforms. Their terms and privacy practices are their own.

12.Availability and changes

We work to keep the site available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, pages or programming, and we may perform maintenance that makes the site temporarily unavailable.

The house is a building under development. Descriptions of spaces, rooms, amenities, opening timing and programming on this site are plans, not commitments, and may change as the buildout proceeds.

13.Disclaimers

Except where the law does not allow it, the site and the member portal are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be secure, error-free, or continuously available, or that any content on it is accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Atelier 411 Studios, LLC and its members, officers, employees and contractors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the site or the member portal.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the site or the portal will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred dollars ($100).

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by our negligence. Physical use of the house premises is separately governed by the House Rules and any waiver or license applicable to the premises.

15.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Atelier 411 Studios, LLC from claims, damages, losses and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the site or the portal, your content, or your violation of law or of another person’s rights.

16.Suspension of access

We may suspend or terminate your access to the site or the portal, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, the Code of Conduct or the House Rules, or if suspension is necessary to protect members, staff, the house or its systems.

Suspension of site access does not by itself cancel a membership or stop dues; membership status is governed by the Membership Policy.

17.Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

You and we agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Franklin County, Ohio, and each of us consents to personal jurisdiction there.

Before filing anything, please contact us at hello@barkadahouse.com and give us thirty days to resolve the matter. Most problems are a misunderstanding and can be fixed in a conversation.

18.Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and we will give notice of material changes as required by law — by email or a notice on the site.

Continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, subject to any right that cannot be waived. If you do not accept a change, stop using the site and contact us.

19.Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Membership Policy, the Code of Conduct and the House Rules, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive our right to enforce it later. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a reorganization or sale of the business.
